The Yoga of Writing Consultations“I attended Monique's Yoga of Writing retreat in September of 2008. When I got to New Mexico, I was feeling unmotivated and blocked as a writer. Monique convinced me to start offering phone mentoring for writers, something which I had been considering for years but was too scared to start. The idea of coaching writers was exciting, and I was so motivated that I started promoting my new services as soon as I got back. Within three days, I had three clients! Not only that, but I got assignments from two national magazines just after I returned home, and I think the change in my mindset and newfound motivation had something to do with it. Now I do the yoga practice that Monique gave me every morning and I fly through the day feeling great.”

Want to transform your writing practice into an exercise of spiritual renewal? What if you had a personal practice that relieved tension and enhanced concentration? That helped clear the mind and relax the body so that words flowed effortlessly? If your writing practice doesn’t currently begin, end, or include a break for physical and mental reintegration, consider developing a personalized Yoga of Writing practice. In these consultations, Monique addresses writer’s block by working with you to develop an optimal level of mental, physical and spiritual fitness. We consider such things as age, health, strength, flexibility, congenital issues, diet, physical imbalances, chronic disease, injuries, stress levels, writing goals, mental distractions, and spiritual orientation in order to customize a Yoga of Writing practice that works for you. While each person’s practice is unique to their orientation and goals, a Yoga of Writing practice might include: laugh therapy, sounding, myofascial self-release, pranayama (breathing exercises), Vedic chanting, gesture, mantra japa (repeating sacred words or sounds), contemplative prayer, meditation, asana (physical exercises), walking meditation, candle gazing, sentence prompting, and warm-up meditative journaling. Through the time-tested, ancient discipline of yoga therapy, we adapt classical asanas or exercises to address your specific conditions and goals. In these private yoga therapy consultations, Monique works with you to develop a comprehensive sequence of exercises that will equally develop strength, flexibility, structural alignment, proper functioning of internal systems, and mental steadiness.
